The Sementeiras do Amanhã project is a true refuge for creativity, affection, and new beginnings. Through donated materials, a talented group of women from Vidigal transforms what would be waste into beautiful handicrafts. Our space operates with doors open to the street, acting simultaneously as a production studio and a physical shop for the direct sale of these pieces.
The soul of this project is Professor Ana, who learned the craft of handicraft to support her family and pay for her own college education. Today, having graduated, she gives this knowledge back to the community, teaching other women how to generate extra income. Far beyond income generation, Sementeiras is primarily composed of elderly women. The studio has become a vital support network, serving as a space for welcome, active listening, and socialization to combat boredom, loneliness, and, often, family abandonment.
